Alaska Room Redesign

The Alaska Room Redesign project continues to evolve and we appreciate community feedback. Under the direction of former Library Director Virginia McClure we explored a new plan to move the collection back into the wing currently housing the Loussac Event Center, but with updated collection locations for accessibility. This gave us an idea of what updated project costs and scope might be and included two virtual open houses.

The previous plan to move the Collection to the northeast corner of the 3rd floor at Loussac Library also remains an option.  APL plans to evaluate the final location for the Alaska Collection as part of the next phase of Loussac renovations which will include the full third floor in the future. Updates will be posted here as they become available.

Our goal and vision remain the same: to ensure the Alaska Collection is accessible to the public and encourages the appreciation of Alaska's history, culture, development, institutions, and natural resources and is relevant to the study and understanding of the state.

Take a walk through the existing space, currently the home of the Loussac Event Center:
